The forest smelled of wet earth, and tiny streams formed where the rain had traced its path. Delfino sat close to the water’s edge, letting the drizzle fall on his fins, eyes half-closed but restless.
Slothy climbed down, moving carefully so as not to slip on the wet bark, and settled beside him.
Slothy: “You’ve been sitting in the rain a while. Won’t you catch a cold?”

Delfino (softly): “Maybe. But it’s the only time I don’t feel the noise in my head.”
Slothy: “Monsoon quiets everything else?”
Delfino: “It does. And yet, it makes everything inside me louder.”
Slothy: “What kind of loud?”
Delfino: “Memories. Regrets. Dreams I thought I’d have achieved by now. People I miss but never text.”
Slothy: “Funny, isn’t it? How the rain can feel comforting and heavy at the same time.”
Delfino: “Yeah. It’s like the sky is crying for us, so we don’t have to.”
They both watched a leaf dance on the surface of a puddle, circling before settling still.

Slothy: “You know, you’re allowed to let yourself feel these things. Without rushing to fix them.”

Delfino: “I think I’m afraid that if I start feeling it, I won’t know how to stop.”
Slothy: “You don’t have to stop. Feelings pass like the rain. They soak in, and then the sun finds its way back.”
Delfino: “You think it’s okay to let the rain in, even if it makes you cry?”

Slothy: “I think the rain knows how to clean what we’re too tired to wash away ourselves.”
Delfino closed his eyes, letting a heavier drop land on his cheek, indistinguishable from the tear that followed.
Delfino: “Maybe I needed this rain more than I realized.”
🌟 A Message from Soulamore:
Monsoon doesn’t just water the earth; it reminds us to soften, to feel, to let what is heavy be heavy for a while.
If the rain makes your memories ache, if your heart feels tender, if your eyes feel heavy—know this:
You’re not alone. And it’s okay to let the rain in.
🩶 Share what the rain is stirring in you in the Confession Box. 🩶 Or let someone hold space for your monsoon reflections through Our Peers.
Overthinking shared is overthinking eased. Let the rain speak for you.
