Wednesday Wellness: He Never Said It (But He Showed It)

The sun had just begun filtering through the canopy as Slothy and Delfino sat quietly by the stream. A kingfisher flitted past with food in its beak, disappearing into a nest tucked in the trees. Delfino watched the little scene with a soft smile.

Delfino: “You know… I spent Sunday with my dad. He’s not one for big speeches or anything. He never actually says ‘I love you,’ not in words.”

Slothy: “Yeah? How do you know he cares, then?”

Delfino: “It’s the little things. Like, he checked the tire pressure in my scooter before I left. And packed my favorite snacks for the ride back. He never said it… but he showed it.”

Slothy: (nodding warmly) “Sounds familiar. A lot of men speak louder with actions than with words.”

Delfino: “I used to wish he’d just come out and say how he feels. But now I see those quiet gestures were him saying it in his own way.”

Slothy: “There’s a special kind of love in the things that aren’t said. Sometimes a tightened screw, a saved last piece of cake, or waiting up late is how they say ‘you matter to me.’

Delfino: “It’s funny, we almost miss it if we’re only listening for words.”

Slothy: “Mm-hmm. Sometimes we need to listen with our hearts, not just our ears.”

🌟 A Message from Soulamore: Not every heartfelt feeling comes dressed in words. There are men in our lives who show up in quiet ways: fixing a leak instead of saying “I’m here for you,” or simply sitting nearby through your silence. In the rush of daily life, these gentle acts can easily go unnoticed, but they are love letters written in effort. This month, let’s honor those unspoken gestures. A father’s protective check-ins, a friend’s silent late-night company, a brother’s fierce but wordless support — they all say what isn’t easily said. Men often learn to “be there” rather than express overtly, and that care runs deep. If you’re one of those who find it hard to put feelings into words, know that your actions are heard. And whenever you’re ready to share more, we’re listening. Soulamore is all about creating spaces — quiet or spoken — where every form of care is recognized and every voice, even the hesitant one, is welcome.
