Wednesday Wellness: Mindfulness for the Busy Dolphin

Delfino swam up to Slothy’s tree, his usual playful sparkle replaced by a tired look.

Delfino: “Slothy… I’m really not doing great. Lately everything feels like too much — currents, predators, ocean drama. It’s like I’m always swimming against something.”

Slothy looked down, concerned.

Slothy: “Sounds exhausting. You dolphins live life at full speed — maybe it’s time to pause.”

Delfino: “Pause? I don’t think I even remember how.”

Slothy: “That’s where mindfulness comes in. It’s not just a sloth thing, you know. It’s for anyone who needs a breath.”

Delfino: “Alright, tell me. I’m listening.”

Slothy: “Start simple. Just breathe. Slow and steady. Focus on what you feel right now — not the past, not the next wave.”

Delfino took a deep breath. Then another.

Delfino: “…Wow. That actually helped. I haven’t felt this grounded in days.”

Slothy: “See? You don’t have to slow down forever. Just enough to find yourself again.”

They sat in quiet company — the sloth in his tree, the dolphin floating nearby. Neither rushed. Just present. Just enough.
